A KwaZulu-Natal born talent, Abdul Khoza (34) has moulded his craft in performing arts so well that he received his first nod from the DStv Mzansi Viewers Choice Awards (DMVCA).
Khoza, nominated for the Favorite Actor award, said this recognition will require him to work harder than he already does. In addition to Bonko Khoza, Zolisa Xaluva, Thapelo Sebogodi, and Vusi Kunene, he will be up against his on-screen brother.
On #YouWithTheBoys, he discusses his career, recent roles, and the impact they’ve had on his life.
In The Wife, Nqoba is the second eldest Zulu brother; he is portrayed as a ruthless but comic character who is in a relationship with Mandisa (Zikhona Sodlaka). Nqoba, known for courting trouble for the family, values family bonds, sacrifice and respect. In addition to running a taxi business, he and his fellow Zulu brothers also run a swindling business.

Before you played the role, had you read the books by Dudu Busani Dube?
“No, I dont want to lie, I started reading her books as soon as I got the role. I did not know much about the series until I got to the auditions and thats where I met her (Dudu Busani Dube). Although after reading her work I became a fan and fell inlove with her craft”
Producers of ‘The Wife’ clarified the situation and stated that fans’ favourite Nqoba would not be leaving the show. Abdul Khoza’s stunt caught the attention of The Wife fans; hence he announced that his character will not die on the show and promised fireworks in its upcoming third season.
Are you satisfied with your growth as an actor since your journey started?
Every day I hear applause concerning the job that I do, and I get happy with that response. Especially because I never had an opportunity to go to school and study acting. I will forever be grateful to all those that voted for me to be industry.
The Wife actor Abdul Khoza, who plays the fan favourite character of Nqoba on the show, has assured his fans he is not going anywhere.
